Doha [Qatar], July 21: Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) has reported a strong financial performance for the first half (H1) of 2026, posting a net profit of QR713 million, up 3.5 percent from QR689 million in the corresponding period of last year, supported by balanced business growth, strong operational efficiency and continued expansion in its financing portfolio.
The bank also recorded growth across its key financial indicators, with total assets increasing by 5.4 percent to QR63.8 billion, while financing assets climbed 13.1 percent to QR44.1 billion. Customer deposits reached QR43.1 billion, reflecting a 2.1 percent increase, and earnings per share (EPS) stood at QR0.42.
The financial results were announced by QIIB Vice Chairman and Managing Director Sheikh Abdullah bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani following a meeting of the bank's Board of Directors, which reviewed and approved the financial statements for the six-month period ended June 30, 2026.
Commenting on the results, HE Sheikh Abdullah said the bank's performance reflects the success of its strategy of achieving sustainable and balanced growth while maintaining prudent risk management despite a challenging global economic environment.
He said QIIB has continued its growth momentum, supported by Qatar's resilient economy, stable business environment and prudent economic policies under the country's leadership.
"We continue to enhance our policies and procedures to strengthen our ability to face potential challenges, with a strategic priority focused on the local market, which offers abundant opportunities across various business sectors," he said.
He added that QIIB continues to strengthen its technological infrastructure and accelerate its digital transformation journey, enabling the bank to deliver more efficient and innovative banking services while keeping pace with rapid developments in the global banking industry.
He also highlighted the confidence shown by international rating agencies in the bank's financial strength. During its latest 2026 review, Moody's Investors Service affirmed QIIB's long-term rating at 'A2' with a stable outlook, while Fitch Ratings reaffirmed the bank's 'A' rating, citing its strong financial position, asset quality, profitability, capitalisation and liquidity.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation to the executive management and all employees for their efforts in delivering the strong first-half performance and urged them to continue maintaining high standards to meet customer expectations and maximise shareholder value.
Providing further details on the financial performance, QIIB Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed Al Shaibei said the bank generated total income of QR1.61 billion during the first half of the year.
He noted that the bank maintained one of the strongest efficiency levels in the banking sector, with a cost-to-income ratio of 19.7 percent, reflecting continued improvements in operational efficiency driven by greater adoption of digital banking channels and technology-led services.
Al Shaibei also highlighted the bank's strong asset quality and prudent risk management framework. The non-performing financing (NPF) ratio remained low at 2.54 percent, while the coverage ratio stood at 100 percent, underscoring the quality of the financing portfolio and limited credit risk exposure.
He added that the bank's Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) under Basel III requirements reached 21.41 percent, significantly exceeding the minimum regulatory requirements set by the Qatar Central Bank, demonstrating the bank's strong capital base and resilience against potential risks.
"The first-half results confirm QIIB's ability to deliver stable and sustainable performance through diversified income sources, a flexible business model and continuous innovation in services and products," Al Shaibei said.
He noted that the bank introduced several new digital products and services during the period, which received a positive market response and further strengthened QIIB's competitive position.
Al Shaibei also reaffirmed the bank's commitment to corporate social responsibility by supporting educational, healthcare, sports and charitable initiatives that contribute to sustainable development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. He added that investing in Qatari talent remains a strategic priority, with the bank continuing to provide advanced training and leadership development programmes aimed at empowering national professionals across its operations.
